· CONFERENCE OF EUROPEAN EXPERTS ON THE UNESCO-ROAD MAP FOR ARTS EDUCATION IN EUROPE : 27 - 29 MAY 2008 IN WILDBAD KREUTH/GERMANY

Following the successful conference of German, Austrian and Swiss education experts on the question „Evaluation of cultural education?“, this conference will discuss the forms of implementation of the UNESCO-Road Map. It shall provide an opportunity for an exchange on the issue what kind of impact the Road Map has had in the national contexts since it has been agreed upon in Lisbon 2006.
There will be a special focus on Anne Bamford’s latest research on cultural education in Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark. In a number of parallel workshop sessions, questions related to the quality of cultural education in the formal and non formal education sector, to the qualification of educators and artists, to the supporting infrastructure and examples of good practice will be dealt with.

· SEMINAR « NARCISSE PHOTOGRAPHER » : JUNE, 30TH – JULY, 3RD 2008 IN ARLES / FRANCE

The seminar intends to lead to a better comprehension of the phenomena at work in the way of facing the reality and the construction of oneself for children and teenagers through fashion photography and self portrait. The studies will be based on both theoretical approach and case studies and meeting with photographers within the framework of the festival.
The seminar and themes will take a specifically European dimension, included within the framework of the European cultural season of the French presidency of the European Union (July - December 2008)

· CLOSING COLLOQUIUM OF THE YEAR OF INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE : 17 – 19TH NOVEMBER, 2008, PARIS / FRANCE

France, which will hold the presidency of the European Union during the second half of 2008, is required to organise the colloquium closing the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. Drawing from the reflection and initiatives carried out in 2008 in the 27 Member States, it will have two general objectives:
- To produce a shared conception of intercultural dialogue within the European Union.
- To outline the main aspects of a European initiative suitable for use at all levels - Community, national, regional and local
– and designed to promote intercultural dialogue in Europe and in the EU's relations with the rest of the world.

· 2009: BRUSSELS 2009: INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CREATIVITY, INNOVATION AND ARTS EDUCATION : MARCH, 13TH AND 14TH, 2009

The European Union has declared 2009 the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.
Both Dutch and Flemish ministries of Education and Culture took the initiative to dedicate an international conference to this event.
At the request of the Dutch and the Flemish ministries, CANON Cultuurcel Vlaanderen and Cultuurnetwerk Nederland have started organizing this conference. Each organisation will contribute its own specific expertise to the initiative. The basic principle of the conference is to ensure that matters of interest for government policy of European member states are put on the agenda.
The conference will be held in Brussels.
The programme, existing of key-notes and topic sessions, is currently being prepared by respectively CANON Cultuurcel and Cultuurnetwerk Nederland. The aim is to create a coherent whole: a covering conference topic with sub-topic sessions.
The Dutch and the two Flemish ministries do count on a participant number of approximately 150 persons. The target group is policy experts (mostly civil servants) from all 27 Member States of the EU which occupy themselves at a strategic substantive and with arts and cultural education, researchers as well as representatives of the European Commission, UNESCO and the OECD.

· EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF ARTS & CULTURAL EDUCATION ON CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE (2007)

A EUROPEAN & INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM PARIS 10 - 12 January, 2007
The aim of the symposium was to take stock both of completed research and of research still in progress. The parameters of this research should be understood in the broad sense that the notion of arts and cultural education carries in France: arts teaching as part of the school curriculum, arts and cultural activities carried out during school time and free time, arts teaching given out of school hours by specialised teaching institutions. · CULTURAL EDUCATION IN EUROPE (2006)

A CONTRIBUTION TO PARTICIPATION, INNOVATION AND QUALITY IN EUROPE
The conference was organized by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture and was held from June 8th to June 10th.

· CULTURE AND SCHOOL (2004)

In 2001 and 2004 two international conferences on arts and cultural education took place in the Netherlands.

Prior to these conferences European research was conducted. The conferences are A Must or a-Muse, Arts and Culture in Education: Policy and Practice in Europe which took place in Rotterdam from 26 to 29 September 2001 and Culture and School, Policies for Arts and Heritage Education across the European Union which took place in The Hague from 8 to 10 September 2004.
